I finally have an actual post for you guys and I am so excited to share it!!. Today I have 5 tips for making your morning more productive! If I’m being completely honest, I haven’t always been a “morning person”but I think I have a pretty good routine that I have practiced for a couple months now that works for me. It seems daunting to do so much in the morning, but once you do it it feels so good to get so much done so quickly, and having so much free time is rewarding in the end:) Ok enough babbling let’s get into the tips!
Tip #1: Wake up at the same time every day, and make it at least 2-3 hours before you have to leave for work, school, plans, etc
Okay, this may seem pretty daunting at first, but trust me if you get out of bed before 9 you will have so much time to get things done for the day. This is obviously customizable to your personal schedule. I work early most mornings, so I tend to set my alarm for 6:00 and getting up around that time or a bit later. This gives me time to stretch, make breakfast, and do my wake up routine which I will explain later on.
Tip # 2: Get stuff done the night before!
Ok, we’ve all had those moments where we wake up 5 minutes before we have to leave and we can’t find that sock we need, forgot to pack lunch and a whole bunch of shenanigans like that. I have an easy fix for moments like those, that will you waking up stress-free. Start by picking out your outfit the night before and hanging it somewhere you can see it in the morning. My dad bought me a handy outfit display a couple years ago and it is SO helpful when I wake up frazzled in the morning. If you know you won’t have time to grab food on the way to wherever you are going, pack food the night before. If you have a big assignment due the next day, make sure it’s printed and packed away safely before you go to sleep. Little things like that don’t seem like much effort when you do them, but trust me when I say the will help you in the long run.
Tip # 3: Make a routine and stick to it
This has to be my favorite tip of all. The best part of waking up early is having some time to yourself! First, think of 3-4 things that relax you. Is it playing music in the morning? Doing a little yoga? Maybe reading a book? Once you have those things in your mind, make a schedule and start doing it in the morning. I like to use the app Balanced(It’s on the app store and I’ll have it linked at the bottom) to plan out my day and make sure I’m getting things done. What’s great about the app, is that you can type in what you need to do and give yourself reminders to get it done. For me, my routine consists of drinking plenty of water, doing a mini bible study, some stretching or a workout(depending on what I am feeling that day), and writing in my journal.
Tip # 4: Eat a full breakfast
Depending on what your budget is, this can vary but me being a college student I can understand budgeting quite a bit. I like to make my breakfasts healthy but sometimes grabbing Starbucks before class is more convenient. Whatever you do, just make sure you are eating enough food to fuel your body for the day, and make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!
Some of my favorite quick and easy breakfasts are:
Oatmeal and a banana
Smoothie and a muffin
Waffles and Fruit
Eggs and Turkey Bacon
(All of these with a huge glass of water!)
Tip #5: Have a postive mindset
Waking up with a positive attitude every day isn’t always possible, but it can surely turn your day around. Even if you are feeling a little groggy in the morning just think to yourself that the day is yours today to conquer…and you really don’t know what’s going to happen so why not be excited about it?!
