I’m back from my hiatus and ready to share my favorites for this chilly month of January! Today is actually quite warm and after finishing some readings for my classes this week, I decided to sit down and make a list of all the things I have been loving this month. The list will be broken down into categories: Beauty/Skincare and Entertainment. I hope you all enjoy:)
Albania Acne Dote Facial and Body Scrub
First of all, this stuff smells amazing! Literally like fresh citrus…I usually put it on before I go to bed, but I am considering using it in the morning because of how awake and fresh I feel after using it!
Mario Badescu Setting Spray
This. Stuff. Works. Wonders. I spritz a couple sprays after applying my makeup and it lasts me an entire day filled with classes and work! It even passes the pillow test- so a cat nap will still leave your face free of makeup and highlighter smudges!
Profusion Contour and Nudes Eyeshadow Palettes
As a #broke college girl, I try to find dupes of high-end makeup products whenever I can. These palettes are no exception. The colors are so pigmented and surprisingly last long when applied. I am definitely making another trip to target soon to pick up more.
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant
I currently tried out the Lavender and Sage scented one, and I am in love!! I switched over after hearing how bad aluminum-based deodorants(and other products) are for your body and I am so happy with my decision. Natural deodorants have a tendency to wear off after a while, and after a week testing out this deodorant, I can confidently say I smelled just as nice and fresh in the evening as I did when I applied it in the morning.
I have recently gotten into these magical things and they have changed my life! I plop one into my bath every Friday night and slowly relax as the aromas kick in. I have tried two different brands this month and I intend on trying more. A friend of mine recently gifted a 3 piece set from a natural market downtown. These are great because the ingredients are totally natural and safe for your body. I try and stick to natural formulas- but sometimes I can’t resist a good birthday cake scent!
The Crown(Season One)
I am so late in the game to this series, but my word is it amazing! I watched episode one with my friends and I was immediately hooked! I am fascinated with the royal family, and you’d best believe I will be plopped on my couch as soon as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding is aired on tv. If you are a fan of Downton Abbey or The Crown, I highly recommend watching this show!!
I have been getting into podcasts lately and they are a much better alternative to watching Netflix before bed(although I am guilty of this sometimes) Some of the ones I have been interested in are Straight and Curly, Girl Boss Radio with Sophia Amoruso, and Lore.
As a woman in her early twenties, it is critical that I stay informed on what’s happening in the world. In addition to reading news updates in the morning, I get daily emails from The Skimm and the New York Times. In addition to more political based outlets, I also enjoy getting fun and self-care emails from Girls’ Night In, and my daily notifications from Shine. Both of these companies are run by amazing women and really have inspired me to take better care of myself and practice self-love!
As an English Major, I read pages and pages every day for each of my core classes, but I have found time to squeeze in some pleasure reading. This month I am reading Outlander. It is trying at times because of the length, but I am determined to finish the novel before the end of the month so I can start the series on Stars(Hello Sam Heughan😍)
Well, I think that’s everything on my list! I hope you guys enjoyed my post for today and stay tuned for more this coming week! I announced a new series on my twitter(@roarin20smth) so you should definitely give me a follow there so you can find out what it is. It will be up and running this Thursday and I could not be any more excited. I hope you all have wonderful days/nights wherever you are in the world.
I am not sponsored by any of the companies listed above- if you are interested in working with me please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
